Minty Monday — Mint & Lime Tequila Refresher!

16 Apr

As the Texas summer begins, and 100 + days are headed our way, we’re all going to need some refreshing. Queue mint & lime tequila refresher! A bubbly drink with a zip to cool off the hottest of days. To start, you’ll need:

  1. Leaves from 1 medium bunch of mint
  2. 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon superfine sugar
  3. 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  4. 1 1/2 cups silver tequila
  5. Ice cubes
  6. 24 ounces chilled club soda

In a large cocktail shaker, muddle the mint leaves with the sugar and lime juice. Strain into a small pitcher and stir in the silver tequila. Fill 6 highball glasses (or larger, as shown below) with ice and pour the cocktail over the cubes. Top each drink with club soda and serve. Tada!

To mix up the flavor a bit, or add something fruity, you could substitute the club soda for sprite or sprite remix! Happy Minty Monday.

Emyo Happy

11 Apr

I think my life just may be complete if I had an Emyo painting hanging in my house one day. Emily Ozier is one of my absolute favorite artists, based in Memphis, TN. She seems like an inspiring, Christian woman, which makes me like her paintings even more (who knew that was possible?!) Here are some to pull at your heartstrings:

Minty Monday

Mint leaves and mint oil have loads of uses and health benefits, not to mention a fabulous smell, which is why I LOVE mint shampoo. It’s refreshing and happy – and, let’s face it. If you’re like me, you need a little happy in the morning to wake up and not go diving back into bed. Here is the shampoo I currently use:

It’s called Bioinfusion, and smells oh so lovely. This shampoo has a stronger peppermint smell than mint, but is invigorating all the same. I bought it at Walgreen’s, normally about $8 or $9, but it was on sale for $3 off! Needless to say, I bought two.

Another mint shampoo that I absolutely love (and is even cheaper than Bioinfusion) is Suave:

These run about $2 a pop and are well worth your money! Here are a few other minty blends to tickle your fancy:

Peppermint oil is also a proven stimulant for hair growth, woo hoo!  For more fresh finds for summer, check out Real Simple magazine’s “6 Chilled-Out Beauty Finds.”

Happy Minty Monday!
